The BSc (Hons) is a top-up qualification allowing those applicants who can demonstrate appropriate learning at level 1 or 2 to access the 3 rd year of a degree that is designed to take into account Employment National Training Organisation (ENTO) standards as accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) for occupational safety and health practice at the appropriate level to ensure graduates are eligible for graduate membership of IOSH.
This qualification is particularly appropriate for students who already work in occupational safety and health as technician grade members of IOSH who are looking to expand there knowledge and gain graduate membership and subsequently chartered status with the professional body.
The degree is also appropriate for those students are transferring from existing foundation degrees in environmental health or other associated disciplines such as engineering, environmental science management or facilities management who have professional qualifications at the appropriate level.

Hazardous Agents in the Workplace |
To educate participants in the legal, theoretical and practical aspects of identifying, controlling and managing a range of workplace hazardous agents.

Workplace and Work Equipment |
Develop the skills required to inspect workplaces and work equipment and describe and review the causes of and methods of preventing or minimising the severity of accidents, fires and explosions with structures, plant, equipment and processes.

HSS3300 |
Project Module (30 credits) |
This module aims to synthesise learning from the students’ undergraduate occupational safety and health programme providing an opportunity for students to study independently and investigate a topic in depth. It fosters academic curiosity; an inquiry based approach, the employment and application of research skills thus facilitating the development of a higher level of theorising. Students will select a topic of personal interest they wish to study further and will manage their own learning during this module, with the support of an allocated supervisor for this period of independent study.
